REAL STORIES. REAL PEOPLE. GROWING IN JESUS.

Keeping it real: Stories and photos are unedited.

DANIELL'S STORY

As I continued to get older, I see how Jesus has always been there for my mother and I. Jesus has always watched over me through the people that I have encountered, making sure I was fed, taken care of, and most importantly loved. Growing up, I had a lot of hatred, but Jesus taught me how to love, be patient, and forgive.  If it weren’t for Jesus, I wouldn’t be the person who I am today.

Bethel has always been my second home ever since I was born. My mother brought me to Bethel when I was born, and I am now 19 years old. Bethel has given me so many opportunities to grow with Jesus. Bethel’s youth group would meet every Friday and it gave us the chance to hang out with people that also love Jesus. It made us grow spiritually and gave us a bond that we all gained from attending Friday night youth. Bethel gave the youth group a chance to attend JCLA conference every year and it was a blessing.  Bethel is a very supportive church and is always willing to give for the glory of the lord.

Some of the things I love to do in my free time is playing video games, playing basketball, working out, and watching shows and movies. However the two hobbies that mean a lot to me is video games and basketball. Video games have always been a stress reliever for me. Ever since I was kid I would probably play for several hours a day and would still want to keep playing.

Basketball is another hobby of mine that I consider is a part of my life.  Playing basketball just makes me happy. Basketball is something I do, when I need to deal with stress, if I am having a bad day, if I need to workout, if I want to have fun, basketball has always been there for me. Basketball has taught me the growth mindset and that is to always continue to be better and anything you do. Study, ask questions, and recognize your mistakes and learn from them.  Life can be hard and as a human being there are many temptations, and basketball was always my safe space.

I am currently a full-time student at California State University Los Angeles and I am on my second year. I am majoring in Business Economics and I am enjoying it. I am just blessed to be in the position that I am and I am grateful for all the opportunities I have been given. If it weren’t for Jesus Christ I wouldn’t be the person who I am today and I wouldn’t be in the position where I am today.
